I also wanted the zine to feel as though it was created by the hands of each band member for their fans. What would their fans want to see?feel?&nbsp; My research led me to the material choice of laser printing on newsprint. With the mass production capabilities of the 70s, The Jam was able to share their political remarks through direct social engagement, outside of performance, the printed remarks took on the shape of a poster or zine. I decided to combine both poster and&nbsp; zine, giving the fans a little more interactivity. Each student was given the task of presenting the information for the exhibition on a 20x30 poster.&nbsp; The exhibition includes the work of five photographers so I wanted the poster to resemble qualities related to phoptography. One idea related to the circular nature of a lense. I organized the text along a curvature and played with this idea for a few iterations. The second concept played a bit with the focusing attributes of the camera. I added the missing compopnents and moved the information around until I landed on a similar composition to my final idea. I continued with this concept, adding the years flushed to the left and the right side of the poster so they resembled a film strip.&nbsp; Ideation <img width="804" height="807" width_o="804" Lottery in Babylon. I tell the story of the Company (the State) by exploring the human futility that Borges alludes to. Instead of using imagery from ancient Babylon, I felt that the story’s timelessness should be embraced and paired with modern visuals. The abandoned buildings of Chicago enhance the sense of invisible power that the Company wields over its people, similar to the forces in ancient Babylon. Through extensive research, I decided that the art direction should evoke a familiar sensibility while also lacking a human touch. I used photography, illustration, and typography to tell the story.
